The Angel forged of steel and iron was also available, willing to help silently in any way that was needed. He supplied his skills to the Maker of War, as he was designed to be almost as skilled at fighting as the Maker of War. Also he appeared to be although still vulnerable to the whims of the Maker of War especially when time manipulation was involved when it came to the manipulation of the realm; he was invulnerable and practically indestructible... both were handy things to know.

Post  The Storyteller on Mon 14 Mar 2016, 10:16 am

At first Omega visibly struggled not only was the distortion effect of the montage hard to keep up with, but he really had no skill with a blade, or a stick for that matter. Still after a moment he does start to get better. Zargor might even pick up on something that might surprise him. Omega was obviously not built to be a great fighter, but he was clearly built to be a great adapter. He's a survivor and survival requires the ability to adapt. As he moves with Zargor a dance of wood and steel he begins to move quicker, his reflexes are more in-tune.

The whole time he's silent, but strangely and perhaps Zargor knew this on some level? As the silence and the sparring continues it's like the quiet hones Omega all the better and all the faster. He reveals another aspect of his future skill in combat, not just that he's adaptive, but he's creative. As suddenly they move onto more advanced forms of fighting he begins coming up with more unique and strange fighting forms. Some of them even capable of catching Zargor by surprise, but only for a split-second. (He is the Master of War after all, but even split-second surprise is impressive if you take that into account.)

As he trains further, and understands better there is one weapon he obviously favors. Gauntlets, knuckles, and claws as well as surprising Zargor once again by apparently coming up with his own creative fighting style using one of the few powers he was allowed in another Maker's Realm. Omega was apparently a very proficient teleporter as he moved instantly from one spot to another for his attack and defense. The more they trained the more skilled he got at it, and his speed. It was easily and quickly figured that his strength would never be something that could come close to or be on par with Zargor's for example. He just wasn't very physically strong that wasn't in his nature. His speed was incredible though, it evolved and progressed in leaps and bounds. He would be very very fast, and it would seem a fighting style that took advantage of speed over strength would be the wisest to pursue.

Also he didn't seem to have an issue with self-discipline as he never spoke a single word the entire time.

Zargor

Post  Zargor on Mon 14 Mar 2016, 11:38 am

Heard what Omega said in the other realm. He was annoyed, but less annoyed.

A bargain was a bargain.

He did, however, smile, and said so. "You are a good student. As such, I shall help you more than merely teaching you."

He creates shadows, albeit realistic ones, of giants, of dragons, of orcs, of armies, of fighting in groups, in large numbers and alone.

Sometimes Zargor fights with him, sometimes against him. He uses the arch angel to great effect here, offering another perspective than just his own for Omega to train with.

And in deserts, in water, in zero G, falling from the sky.

He doesn't stop, but at the same time, in the eye of the Montage, and says, "Creativity is your strength. It is my own in some ways as well, just not supernaturally so. You need tricks. You are likely the quintessential Trickster and need to understand what that means. Fight dirty. Fight clever. Be prepared." He begins creating objects, bags of sand, small knives, flash powder, ropes, grappling hooks, technology and applicable magic from dozens and hundreds of possible futures.

He then begins to teach him to fight with his surroundings, not just against his opponent but to use the terrain to his advantage as well.

The more pieces he has, the more combinations he can create.

The Free Maker

Post  The Storyteller on Mon 14 Mar 2016, 2:21 pm

Omega adapts through it all, first with enemies other than Zargor. At first especially he didn't fare too well, but soon he was taking on single enemies more and more easily. His teleportation technique playing more and more of a part of his combat style. Another element of his fighting personality began to reveal itself as well. Something unlike the other two aspects which were always good in a fighter, but this aspect. This aspect foreshadowed a trait he would have to learn to control. Omega did indeed have a certain kind of bloodlust perhaps because up til now he had been facing Zargor who on some level he might respect? or at least care for as a sibling and a fellow Maker, but facing these shadow beings he held back less. He could brutal when he wanted to be... and another aspect his ability to stay cool and calculating even when facing enormous odds. A part of his teleportation technique that began to develop was a keen eye for laws of momentum and kinetic force. He began to be able to do some kind of quick double-step teleportation technique and a force shove with his palm that could utterly devastate a bodies physical structure from point of impact.

He didn't speak the entire time either, so none of what he was doing was being explained. At one point he uses this technique on several skulls at once... the result ... wasn't pretty. When Zargor fights with him though he's obviously very careful to avoid doing any direct and permanent damage the same with the Arch High Seraphim. Although it might seem that he only let's himself really loose with the shadow duplicates and so on, it still gives a foreboding feeling of a trait best taught to be disciplined. On some level even Omega must realize this as the further they progress he begins to obviously try to withhold this aggressive streak. Even going so far as utterly changing his style around to only non-lethal blows. Instead of killing targets he would intentionally only incapacitate them. This sets his fighting back quite a bit, as he is less and less successful in his sparring matches.

Strangely enough when the tools of the trickster are brought into play the previous set-back from switching to non-lethal fighting styles is completely gone. Suddenly Omega is right back up to par and it would appear that Zargor got it right on the nail. As each of the tools is taken into Omega's hands and immediately it's like he was born with them there. The bags of sand, an expert. The small knives? Good for pinning a target in place by their clothes or non-vital extremities for a good smack-down. Flash Powder? Mixed with teleportation and he managed to take down an entire army of human shadow opponents single-handedly with just these two things alone. Ropes? This one was interesting, as Omega reveals a whole new level of speed and a new ability that apparently he could tap in a realm not his own. It was curious how he kept doing that? Zargor gets a strange feeling as an aspect of his sort of, maybe, whatever is happening elsewhere, and sort in here, with him reared it's ugly head. He could almost observe how Omega's powers were working, Omega was the Free Maker ... his Primal Element was Infinite Space... his physical form literally contained within it infinity... he was contained freedom... he was like what the Matter and Atoms were doing in the Howling Void or what was left of it in the Physical Realms... like a Sun kept in a constant state of just almost going supernova and than squeezed down into the size of a small ball... or in this case... a young man.

As he was watching Omega and understanding what was happening beyond just seeing it himself. Omega pushed his speed further and further literally becoming almost a blur among his opponents. Using rope to tie them up before they could make a move against him. Only unfortunately he couldn't really stop it would seem and eventually slammed right into a wall. Probably destroying his physical body, collapsing into a bloody squishy mess. Then after a moment the mush starts to pull itself together, he can also regenerate. Although that's not entirely unexpected Makers after all are incredibly difficult to kill and if just slamming into a wall after breaking the sound barrier was enough to kill them... well that would just be silly.

It would take a minute and thanks to the montage they didn't actually well... not in a way that anyone, but the Maker of War could perceive wait very long for him to be made whole again. Although he certainly looked a little worn afterwards, but he didn't complain... no not once. He said absolutely nothing and honestly hadn't even made a grunt or a sigh or a groan... well maybe one... when he hit the wall... but can you really blame him for that?

He took to the grappling hook as well, very well. Especially with his teleportation and speed crafting all by himself a sort of tricky way of pseudo flight by combining the three. As long as he had something above him to grapple at, he could basically fly from one perch to another. Although this reveals another aspect of his teleportation ability that helps make more sense of his strange force technique with it. Apparently when he teleports he carries with him the same momentum and force and moves in approximately the same direction at the same speed he was moving and carrying before he teleported. He also seems to know this and has been figuring out how to best use it to his advantage. As he continues using it you might even observe that a small amount of kinetic force and speed is actually generated with each teleportation sort of like a small shove. Revealing in whole how the force technique worked, by using multiple teleportations in a chain he could generate extra kinetic force and must somehow have figured out how to channel it through his body and out through his palm.

The training is taken to many different kinds of planes, realms, and realities. Omega in the end eventually adapts to all of them. Although it's the zero G one where he really impresses. It's inherent especially for any beings that can comprehend and live on and by the law of gravity on some level for it to be difficult to deal with the sort of dimensions that you deal with when in zero G. Directions in their own way lose all meaning and suddenly up can be down and so on. Omega adapts almost immediately to this, not once appearing to lose his sense of direction. Zargor observing him might suspect that Omega's trick for this was that he found a specific stable point and made this his 'north'. This might even be tested by moving the stable object, which to some extent does disorient Omega for just a moment. Still he reorients himself quickly and expertly and maintaining the same north. Over time as they progress with the training and come back to this arena again, Zargor might be able to figure it out... apparently it's not just one point it's actually nine with eight forming a cube dynamic containing the arena and a center point. Also that this technique is apparently easy enough for Omega to adjust rapidly that it isn't hard for him to reorient whenever one of or more of the points are moved, by making himself the center point. By always being adjusted to his 'up, down, north, south, east, and west.' He's able to register when points are being moved, and adjust himself to new points accordingly. Also the bugger is clever and isn't saying anything so he keeps picking more and more creative and difficult to figure out points so their harder to move.

Zargor nods

Post  Zargor on Tue 15 Mar 2016, 8:49 am

"You have passed the first test. You are capable of being yourself and defending yourself. Are you willing to go farther? A nod will suffice."

If he agrees, Zargor kicks it up a notch.

Meditation.

Seriously. The Montage stops, but shifts to a different pace of bent time.

High on mountains yet unbuilt, in oceans yet unmade and in deserts infinitely vast, he nods to the king.

"You must learn to check your agression. Everyone has a flaw. The curse of my progeny is war, uncontrolled. They will learn to control it, or they will not be mine."

If this initial action is successful, he begins increasing the things afflicting Omega, with more pain and distractions; physical, mental, endurance and even social taunting with mockery. They are shadows, but these shadows will bear the reality of other reflections and seem quite real indeed. He will push Omega as far as he can; since he does indeed know that Makers can take quite a bit.

If, and only if, Omega succeeds at this will they start all over again, this time without weapons and work on hand to hand conflict.

The primal martial arts that War knows in his very being, the focus of Ki, the manifestation in all things, even makers if they so chose of Chakra and pressure points. The flow of the physical, albiet manifested in the existential, sweat, blood, pain, sinew, bone and spirit as manifest in Kata and flow.

The Trans-Existential Ore

Suddenly a large silvery chunk of ore lands directly into Zargor's realm... apparently he could just summon some of them. He just had to try.

Zargor: One problem solved

Post  Zargor on Tue 15 Mar 2016, 10:47 am

"Well that's one problem solved."  And he immediately moves that into a realm that is NOT here, away from anyone or anything else, well hidden from anyone but him.

The ore wasn't going to be near him.

That still left two wayward 'children' to protect, one of whom was a problem before they were even 'born'.

The Free Maker

Post  The Storyteller on Tue 15 Mar 2016, 3:15 pm

Omega nods, he agrees to continue.

High on the mountains he meditated, and he remembers sitting on a similar perch in the great void of space with a blue planet behind him. Listen...

In the oceans he meditated, Listen...

In the infinite deserts he meditated, Listen...

Everyone does have a flaw... I have a flaw too... my rage yes, but more than that... Freedom ... I must learn to control myself ... to contain infinity. This is the task... I must chain myself, bind myself with rules... so that I can be a Good Man.

The afflictions began and he takes to it better than ever thought, he follows his gut. He listens and he just ... keeps ... listening. The sounds of mockery, the feeling of pain, and he just keeps listening to the tick of Existence. Is time an intruder into the sphere in it's own right? Is it enemy or ally? Whatever it is... here and now ... in this moment... I can hear it. The tick drowning all other things out, as he listens.

Than eventually they began the next step of the training. Omega feels much more at peace now than before. Although he can't shake the strange memory of meditating in another time and in another form. He struggles with martial arts for a moment, but being something that was more of a speed over strength combat technique he obviously had some talent. Still there was something the whole time fighting after meditating that was just ... different? He had found some form of inner-peace and beyond that... something more. Like he had some kind of decision ... some inner triumph had been accomplished.

Witness Zargor... the power of courage. For there is no doubt... he is terrified yet he keeps going... the truest power of fear.

Zargor: Time Runs Down

Post  Zargor on Thu 17 Mar 2016, 4:56 am

There is a flicker.  Time passed.  Quickly.

"There are things that have happened, that you can't see yet.  I recommend that you don't look there.  Just as I have things I have to willfully not know yet, you too must not yet look there.  There are reasons for this.  But now the time has come to say goodbye.  I give you a mark Omega, the mark of the First Warrior.  Wear it with pride and as or if you are reborn in the howling void or in the existential sphere, you will carry it with you.  You may now speak in my presence, for you have earned the right as a Warrior to speak among the Sensei.  This pattern shall repeat itself among all others who take the First Path.

Now if you will excuse me, I have a thing to deal with."

Zargor: And then there was Forging

Post  Zargor on Thu 17 Mar 2016, 5:34 am

Zargor took the offered flesh of his brother Maker (not Omega, the one who approached him in the Private message) and forces a weapon of Destruction as he is asked.

The power of the dream is waking
The waking is anathema to the flesh
Of the illusion that crawls along the walls
In the yellow wall paper
In the house in which all creation dwells
He wears no mask that which binds this
Not all old ones are the same
The squirming thing thinks it knows pain
As a bringer of pain
It is so often on the end of the spear that bites
But not today,
No not today intruder
For today this weapon made by Zargor's Forge
Shall feast on old flesh
And cleans the house
Of the rats in the darkness.

Zargor makes Acylpsos, the Spear of Destruction
5 Creation Points

It is a rule that points and actions cannot be used in the Primal Nexus. But! Dangerous times call for Dangerous measures, the Storyteller does not make this cost points or instances, nor does it count for an action. He will however allow it to maintain and retain it's power and become a Primal Artifact regardless. Anything that could and should be done to protect the Primal Nexus and banish the Old One's influence from the 14 corners. Also he really appreciated the 'story' that went into forging as incantations can be stories in their own right, if you're clever.

So it shall be, and so it was

Re: The Iron Heaven: Realm of Zargor

Post  Guestor on Thu 17 Mar 2016, 11:27 am

Normally Kairos would not intrude onto another Maker's realm, but desperate times called for unconventional measures. It was Kairos who had asked for a weapon forged from a master to fight the Old One, and what better master to forge a weapon than the Maker of War himself?

Kairos, the Sphere of Dreams, materialized in the Iron Heaven. "If necessary, Storyteller, consider this intrusion at the expense of my Divine Request. Otherwise, I have come forth to retrieve and further empower the weapon which construction I had requested."

And barring being expelled or impeded by the Storyteller, the Sphere of Dreams grabbed the weapon with swirling colors and began to place upon it a cursed - or blessed? - light made of the purest Spirit. In doing so the Maker of Spirit also felt some pain, for this light that would be forever tied to the Spear of Destruction was called the Light of Judgement. Considering what Zargor had done to empower his weapon, Kairos decided to follow and 'inscribe' the Spirit-made light with a writing of his own:

"Roles reversed, tables turned, prey that becomes hunter. Those who seek destruction are instead slain. A light that feeds upon darkness."

He then encased the weapon in the sphere, hiding it when the moment to strike would come.

Post  The Storyteller on Thu 17 Mar 2016, 11:32 am

Honestly although he did care about the Laws of the Primal Nexus for now as long as Zargor didn't have a problem with it. Storyteller is willing to overlook this intrusion on the premise that the circumstances demanded action and that sometimes meant breaking the rules for the good of all... as long as you were only breaking the rules that could be broken.

After all some rules existed for a reason like the Law of Doors and really shouldn't be broken by Anyone. The Law of Territory though was a different matter and if Zargor allowed it, the Storyteller would not interfere.

That is Platonically cast against the wall were Zargor here which he isn't but if he hypothetically would cast perfectly on the wall that is there only for purposes of this answer wouldn't object.

The Storyteller acknowledges and accepts this as confirmation that all is well. Zargor is currently trapped in the Cage, but that will suffice as approval.

El-U

Post  The Storyteller on Thu 17 Mar 2016, 12:33 pm

El-U was suddenly aware that his Master had just departed and a whole bunch of stuff had happened and he hadn't even been given a chance to help in any way whatsoever!!! Of course he knew it was his own fault on some level for being so slow, but he was made of metal! What did they expect! Realizing at this point his Master must trust Omega a whole hell of a lot to just leave him here in the realm unattended and he sure as hell wasn't about to let his Master face that monster alone.

In an instant he understood just what to do. One could confirm that there was indeed a gate to the Cage at least somewhat stable in the Blighted Valley. Very well! You shall not face him alone Master! Flying from the realm in a moment off to travel to the Cage.

Actually the Eleventh Request

Post  Guestor on Thu 17 Mar 2016, 1:13 pm

Kairos decided he had nothing to lose by asking the Storyteller for a bonus against the Old One. He could not find the Divine Engines, but the Storyteller was waiting in Zargor's realm. Thus once more the Sphere of Dreams materialized in Iron Heaven.

"Storyteller, whilst normally I would not ask this from you this is an extreme circumstance and it requires unusual measures. So I come before you to ask that which I seek from my fellow Makers: An gift that I may use against the Old One, regardless of what it may be."

The Storyteller

Post  The Storyteller on Thu 17 Mar 2016, 1:19 pm

The Storyteller chuckles his voice a little dimmer than it has been for a while... mostly because he just doesn't have the energy for it right now. Dear Kairos... it is in the 'Training Room' that I happen to be manifested at the moment. Although in truth I am aware of all realms in the Primal Nexus. So yes I hear your request and if you come to the Training Room I will give you something of use, but know this... the Old One cannot die, not truly without the 'Grand Design'. The Ink is only a Demi-Old One a manifetation of the Old One's Will an extension even, but not the real deal, believe me. For Him... the Grand Design is out only hope... or at least... the only hope that I know of.

Spiritual Facepalm

Post  Guestor on Thu 17 Mar 2016, 1:21 pm

Kairos decided to imitate the realm's owner, Zargor, and perform a facepalm. It was a special kind of facepalm, the Spiritual Facepalm. Since Kairos was in his sphere form, it was more like an awkward splash of color against his sphere's surface.

Then he left the realm.
